Professional Background

Hello my name is Brandon Ellis, a passionate multimedia artist with over 14 years of experience in digital photography and video production. My career has spanned various roles always focused on asset production, creation, direction, and utilization. I've honed my skills in storytelling, project management, public speaking, event production, film & photo, and content, through the opportunities and roles I’ve had over the years, from Sales/Marketing project lead/assist to in house film & photo, to freelancing producing to Creative Direction.

Current Role: As the Principal Creative Director at Lacuna LLC, I produce, define, and outline creative projects using my own talents, and those of the immense community of creators and freelancers around me. Together, we curate impactful projects for both in-house and client work. My role involves overseeing the entire creative process, from initial concept development to final execution, ensuring each project aligns with our strategic vision and delivers engaging, high-quality content.

Past Experience: Previously, I founded Ellis Creatives LLC, where I provided comprehensive multimedia services to a diverse range of clients. My portfolio includes everything from documentary filmmaking and event coverage to brand video and marketing content. Notable projects include producing a pivotal video that helped secure a $2.5 million grant for DC SCORES and creating engaging large format visual content for major events at venues like Audi Field.

I’ve produced visuals both for editorial distribution and commercial needs, for notable clients such as Outside Magazine, Backpacker Magazine, OutsideTV, Rock & Ice Magazine, Under Armour, YETI, Roam Media, Inkwell Media, Eleven Experience, Black Diamond, Arc’Teryx, The North Face, Outside Festival, Yoga Journal, SKI Magazine, Climbing Magazine, DC United, Telluride MTN FILM Festival, The Washington Spirit, and more.

Personal Journey

Adopted from the foster care system, I've always been driven by a desire to give back and support children from all walks of life. Throughout the last 14 years, I've volunteered and worked directly/indirectly to support children and families from a variety of marginalized populations.

Currently, I have allocated a significant portion of my business resources to developing visuals for local DC based organizations working with kids in and around the city, including SMYAL, and DC SCORES. Every kid deserves love, and safety. I truly want to uplift the people doing the hardest work in holding space for these kids to thrive, in a city that doesn’t want them to.

My passion for visual storytelling is deeply rooted in my upbringing. My mom, a former photojournalist and librarian, taught me to read and write at a high level from an early age. She also introduced me to the world of comic books, which has significantly influenced my landscape work, scene design, and composition. Inspired by her, I pursued an Art degree at George Mason University, focusing on visual storytelling.

My Mission

At this point in my life, I am dedicated to making a lasting impact. My mom, who was also orphaned and adopted at a young age, adopted me and my sister so we would always have each other. My mom was my best friend and biggest supporter, and her legacy inspires me every day. I strive to build the same kind of lasting impact she created for me and many others in the DMV through her work as a librarian and mother figure to so many. My goal is to create meaningful and impactful space and experiences that resonates with and inspires others.
